Year Four conducted themselves with aplomb today as they took centre stage and performed an engaging assembly, packed full of scientific knowledge. They have been studying circuits and conductors this term and have branched out into researching exactly where and how we get electricity.
During a wide-ranging assembly, we learned how fossil fuels are currently the major source of electricity. Unfortunately these are polluting our world and are a finite resource. The class explained how electricity can be produced by harnessing energy from the sun, wind and the movement of water.
There were some cautionary tales about staying safe and a few hair-raising experiments into static electricity. The class explained clearly how many creatures in the natural world, such as electric eels and sharks, use electrical impulses generated in their bodies to detect food and deter predators.
A sparky performance, Year Four!Previous
