Water Weighs Heavy on Their Minds

Year Two are looking at different aspects of African life in Geography this term.  The children were somewhat stunned to hear that Eric, a 12 year old in Uganda, walks a mile to get fresh water and then carries back two-thirds of a jerry can that can hold 20 litres. 


When they tried to carry just eight litres of water around the classroom, they realised just how hard life can be in some areas of the world.  They came up with lots of great ideas to save water; including not cleaning their teeth under a running tap!
