Crown House athletes excel
Over 500 children, from 18 schools, gathered at RAF Halton to take part in a cross country competition on Saturday 14th October. Crown House were represented by 20 very enthusiastic, if slightly apprehensive, Upper School children.
It was a beautiful autumnal morning as our nervous Year Threes lined up on the start line ready for their first ever cross country race. They had a 1,200m course in front of them with a daunting incline towards the end. All of the children gave it their best, with the slightly more experienced Upper School athletes following and competing with just as much determination. The standard was extremely high and some of the races contained more than 100 children. We came away with two medals – a fifth place medal from Sam in Year Six and a ninth place medal from Amelia, also in Year Six.
The effort and enthusiasm the pupils put into their running was highly impressive but it was surpassed by the support they gave their team mates. Many of the children ran alongside the course, cheering and encouraging their friends and peers on! If there was a gold medal for team support Crown House would have won by a country mile.Previous Next
