Sport

As with our academic work, the school places emphasis on children's enjoyment and participation in a wide range of physical activities. Specialist coaches are used to help children develop the skills necessary for sporting success - sport is an integral part of school life.

We believe it to be important that emphasis is placed not merely on the training of the natural athlete but that every effort is made to help the less skilful enjoy taking a full part in sporting activities. Boys and girls take part in all sports in equal measure. The children are also encouraged to lead healthy, active lives on and off the sporting field for example all snacks, lunches and tuck shop are healthy foods.

All classes have weekly P.E. (indoor sports) and swimming lessons. In addition the Upper school have weekly Games (outdoor sports) lessons. The principal school games during the Autumn and Spring Terms are Judo, Football and Netball. In the Summer Term, a very full programme of Athletics, Rounders and Cricket is undertaken and, as well as track skills, children are instructed in the use of Javelin, Discus, Shot and High Jump.

The school's sporting success extends to a number of sports: we have several children playing cricket at county level; other boys and girls enjoying success at club level rugby; and success in the swimming pool and at local Judo tournaments.
