Book Oscars


Last Friday witnessed another red carpet event. If you have been reading our Newsletter over the last few weeks, it cannot have escaped your attention that the school has been buzzing with book talk. One of these conversations led the Year Six class to put forward the idea of running the inaugural ‘Crown House Book Oscars,’ which resulted in last week’s glittering award.  The pupils put together a wide-ranging set of categories for the School to vote on; with the following results:


Classic Story:                                                              The Secret Garden

Best Series of Books:                                                  Famous Five

Best ‘Old School’ Book:                                              Anne of Green Gables

Non Fiction Book:                                                      The Guinness Book of World Records

Best Fairy Tale:                                                           Goldilocks and the Three Bears

Best Bedtime Books:                                                   The Mungo Series

Book that should be turned into a film:                      Beast Quest

Favourite Children’s Author:                                      Roald Dahl

Top Illustrator:                                                            Quentin Blake

The Character You Would Most Like to Meet:         Skulduggery Pleasant
