On Wednesday, eight of our footballers travelled down the M40 to Dair House to take part in their annual football tournament. They were joined by nine other teams, some of the schools were much larger than Crown House.
The squad got off to a lethargic start and before they had woken up they found themselves 2-0 down and no matter how hard they tried, they could not catch the quick starting Long Close School. After a few words of wisdom the team entered their second match full of running and fought out a well-deserved 1-0 victory against St Mary’s. Buoyed by the success of the victory, spirits were high as they took on Davenies in the third match, again the endeavour and effort could not be faulted. They worked their socks off and came away with an impressive victory against a strong team.
The fourth match was the decider to see who would progress to the final, St Bernard’s were a talented group but the match was incredibly close and with a minute to go it was still goalless with both teams hopeful of making the final. However, a last minute goal broke the Crown House hearts. The team finished a very credible third in their group.
The boys and girls from Crown House did us all very proud. Their team spirit and hardworking attitude was a delight to watch.
